LGBTQ+ Inclusion Is a Safeguarding Measure

Ask most educators whether their school takes child safeguarding seriously, and the answer is almost always yes. Ask the same educators whether LGBTQ+ inclusion is part of that safeguarding work, and the conversation often gets more complicated; hesitant, political, contested.

But, the evidence is direct: LGBTQ+ students face significantly elevated rates of sexual abuse, are less likely to report it, and have less access to the protective programming designed to prevent it in the first place.
